Waka Flocka stands strong in his convictions and has been vocal in that conviction during the 2020 election. Recently speaking with the media, Waka spoke about the election, saying that the media was spinning a story that was not true.
Waka related his own experiences to the situation, saying, “I look at it like this because my family, we all represent different walks of America. Some, strictly democrats. Some, strictly republican. And some, independents. So when I look at them, I can understand from all types of groups.”
The interviewer asked Waka to clarify his position on the election, to which he responded, “Look, I don't want to feel like it's anything against either party, but all I want to say is that I want to see real numbers, not spinning.”
The conversation then progressed to Waka’s feelings regarding the impact of the media on the general public. Waka said, “I think they need to think before they just spin stories. They need to look at the real facts. Not just the illusion.”
Waka finished his statement by saying, “When it comes down to it, the media has the power to influence people. They need to pause and think about what message they are sending to their audience, because it really matters.”
Up next was a discussion about the misinformation of coronavirus, specifically the claims that minorities cannot catch the virus. Waka didn’t mince words in his response when he said, “That is not true. I think it’s irresponsible to suggest that minorities cannot catch coronavirus. It’s not grounded in science, and it’s actually doing a disservice to those communities that are already disadvantaged.”
At the same time, Waka conceded that people may be led to believe false information, saying, “I think that it should be the responsibility of the media to make sure that the information that it is putting out there is responsible and factual.”
Waka went on to state that “the media needs to be careful about what it’s saying, because it can have a huge impact on people. There needs to be a sense of responsibility when it comes to information.”
We can see from Waka’s statements that he takes misinformation and the power of the media very seriously. Waka is dedicated to making sure that when reports are discussed, the facts are presented and false information does not spread.
